Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a PCU night shift position requiring telemetry skills and an active PA or Compact RN license.

Details

  • Work in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown) of a hospital setting
  • Care for cardiac telemetry and med-surg telemetry patients, including stepdown, oncology telemetry, neurological, and post-surgical cases
  • Patient ratio of 1:6
  • Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
  • Required to work every other holiday
  • Floating required within the hospital and to sister facilities within a 10-mile radius as needed
  • Any charting system experience accepted; Cerner experience preferred

Requirements

  • Active PA or Compact RN license required
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS (AHA certifications only)
  • Minimum 1 year of recent experience required
  • Prior charge nurse experience preferred
  • Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
  • Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, and blood product administration
  • Experience with BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, HFNC, ABG interpretation, and tracheostomy care
  • Experience managing cardiac and vasoactive drips (no titration), heparin protocols, and thrombolytic agents
  • Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and rapid response/code team activation
  • Experience with wound care/wound vac, pacemakers, and pre/post cardiac cath and surgery care preferred
  • SSN, DOB, and RTO details required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Provide direct patient care within a fast-paced PCU environment supporting cardiac, telemetry, and post-surgical patients
  • Two supervisor references preferred
  • Fingerprinting, drug screen, and required labs must be completed within 24-48 hours of signing
  • Demographic sheet must be submitted within 48 hours of signing
  • All compliance requirements must be cleared by the Wednesday prior to start
  • Approximately 1 hour of pre-start modules required before entering the facility
  • Local candidates accepted at the travel rate
  • Travel pairs accepted based on facility need, though the same schedule cannot be guaranteed
  • Former permanent employees of the facility are not eligible to return as travelers
  • Travel experience is not required, making this role open to first-time travelers
