Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Pulmonary Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring at least 2 years of nursing experience and trach care experience, working night shifts in Asheville, NC.
Details
- Pulmonary Medicine Progressive Care Unit (PCU) in a hospital main campus setting
- 23-bed step-down unit with an additional 16-bed med/surg component on the same floor
- Patient ratios of 1:3-4 on step-down and 1:4-6 on med/surg
- Patient population includes those requiring trach care, chest tubes, cardiac drips, stable vented patients, and wound care
- Equipment includes patient lifts, chest tubes, and ventilators
- Charting via Cerner EMR (experience preferred)
- Night shift: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
- Requires 6 Saturday or Sunday shifts per 6-week period
- Floating to other med/surg and progressive care units is required
- 13-week travel contract
Requirements
- Active NC or compact RN license required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA or ARC accepted; must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start)
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required for PCU RNs
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
- Trach care experience required
- Cerner EMR experience preferred
- US SSN and date of birth required for consideration
- One professional reference required
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
Additional Information
- Daily responsibilities include trach care, chest tube management, wound dressing changes, and care of patients on cardiac drips
- Unit staffing on nights includes 1 charge nurse, 10 RNs, and 4 PCTs
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible for this position
- Flexibility and a high level of clinical competence are key traits for success in this role
