Registered Nurse – Neuro PCU (IMC/Stepdown)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Days | 3x12-hour shifts (6:45 AM – 7:15 PM) | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care to adult patients with neurological conditions including neurosurgical recovery, stroke management, and neuro-specific diagnoses
  • Perform cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and participate in Rapid Response and Code teams
  • Administer IV therapy, blood products, and cardiac drips (non-titrating); manage central and peripheral line care and perform phlebotomy
  • Provide respiratory support including nasal cannula, oxygen administration, and non-invasive airway management
  • Monitor patients within a unit that includes dedicated beds for continuous 24-hour epilepsy monitoring
  • Float to other units within clinical skillset as required; adhere to isolation precautions and infection control protocols

Required Qualifications

  • Active Virginia state RN license or active Compact RN license (pending license considered only for candidates holding a single-state license from a non-compact state)
  • Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
  • Minimum of 1 year of neurological or neuro PCU/stepdown nursing experience required
  • Proficiency with EPIC electronic health records
  • Ability to work a 1:4–1:5 patient ratio
  • Must be willing to work at least one holiday per 13-week contract assignment

Preferred Experience / Skills

  • Prior experience in neurosurgical recovery or stroke management
  • Familiarity with continuous epilepsy monitoring environments
  • Experience working in a Magnet-designated or Level I Trauma Center facility
