Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PCU (Pulmonary/GI) position at a Level I Trauma Center and Magnet-designated academic teaching hospital, requiring Epic proficiency and strong cardiac monitoring skills.

Details

  • Progressive Care Unit (PCU) focused on Pulmonary and GI patient populations
  • Adult and geriatric patient population with a daily unit census of 27
  • Hospitalist-managed PCU; no ventilated patients on this unit
  • Patient ratio of 1:5
  • Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM)
  • Every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling block may be required
  • Must work one holiday per 13-week contract
  • Floating required within skillset
  • May work without CNA support
  • Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

  • Active Virginia state or Compact RN license required; pending license accepted only for candidates holding a single-state license from a non-compact state
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
  • Minimum experience in PCU, DOU, IMC, or stepdown settings required
  • Proficiency in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and emergency response
  • Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central/peripheral line care
  • Familiarity with common IV medications including Cardizem (no titration), Amiodarone, Heparin (protocol), and Insulin (protocol)
  • Experience with respiratory support: nasal cannula, oxygen administration, and non-invasive airway management
  • Experience utilizing rapid response/code teams and isolation precautions
  • Valid driver's license and Social Security card required for consideration
  • Two professional references required for consideration
