Description: We are seeking a full-time Patient Care Technician for the Emergency Department. The role involves performing patient care activities and clerical functions under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Support clinical operations in the Emergency Department. Provide technical assistance and participate in unit and organizational improvement activities. Responsible for reviewing and completing Emergency Department records. Essential Job Functions: Perform phlebotomy, EKGs, patient transport, hygiene care, vital signs, weights, pulse oximetry, and assist with procedures. Input radiology, laboratory, and EKG orders accurately and promptly in the electronic health record system. Maintain departmental filing systems, manage mail, and ensure organized record-keeping. Monitor and order supplies, restock rooms, and maintain cleanliness and organization of utility areas. Manage communication within the department, including answering phones, conveying messages, and assisting visitors courteously. Keep patients and families informed about care processes and support patient needs throughout their emergency visit. Additional Responsibilities: Monitor and report changes in patient condition promptly to nursing staff. Ensure safe patient handling and mobility, including the use of transfer devices and fall prevention measures. Assist with wound care, splinting, and sterile dressing setup under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or physician. Follow infection prevention and isolation protocols rigorously. Demonstrate proficiency in prioritizing multiple patients and tasks in a fast-paced environment. Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to ensure efficient patient flow and continuity of care. Accurately document patient care and observations in the medical record according to policy. Maintain equipment by cleaning, testing, and reporting malfunctions promptly.
