Job Title: Pathologists' Assistant Profession: Laboratory Specialty: Pathology Technician Duration: 1 year contract Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 8 hours (9:00 AM - 5:00 PM) Experience: 1+ year as a Pathologists' Assistant License: Eligible for PA(ASCP) certification within 12 months after hire Certifications: PA(ASCP) certified or eligible for certification Must-Have: - Bachelor's degree in a biological or health sciences field - Completion of a Pathologists' Assistant educational program accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences Description: Under the supervision and direction of the Chief of Anatomic Pathology, the Clinical Specialist (Pathologists Assistant) provides support to the Anatomic Pathology Department. Responsibilities include description, photographing, and grossing of specimens and assistance with frozen sections. The Pathologists' Assistant may assist with administrative functions including preparation and maintenance of protocols, procedures, reports, data, and instruments. They may also perform administrative, budgetary, teaching, and other duties as assigned. Candidates must be currently working as a Pathologists' Assistant and have a strong work history in the role. PA(ASCP) certification is required within the first 12 months of employment.
