Job Title: Pathology Assistant Profession: Laboratory Specialty: Pathologists Assistant Duration: 6 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 8 Experience: Minimum 1 year License: Pending license okay with submission, must be in-hand prior to start Certifications: PA (ASCP) Must-Have: AD in Biological, Chemical or a related Laboratory Science - OR - Bachelor of Science Minimum 1 year of work experience Description: Pathology Assistant needed for a contract position. The role involves complete dissection, gross description, selection and submission of tissue for microscopic examination and special studies such as flow cytometry and/or immunohistochemical staining. This position requires interaction with pathologists and the ability to carry out assigned duties under their direction. Maintaining high ethical standards and integrity is essential in performing assigned duties. The assistant will photograph gross and microscopic specimens and help prepare educational conferences. Training will be provided to pathology personnel, including pathology residents and medical students. The role includes working as a liaison to other departments and laboratories to ensure quality healthcare. Maintaining pathology protocols, procedures, reports, and data is a critical responsibility. Experience in trauma level environments and frozen sectioning is preferred. EPIC charting experience is a plus.
