Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PACU position at an acute care hospital in Sacramento, CA, requiring a current CA RN license and a minimum of 3 years of PACU experience.

Details

  • PACU unit supporting recovery services for OR, Cath Lab, IR, Endoscopy, and Cardiac (excluding open heart) inpatient and outpatient procedures
  • Patient ratio of 1:2
  • Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 0930–2200
  • Floating to ICU may be required
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Work settings include Phase I PACU, Phase II Recovery, Pedi PACU, and ambulatory/outpatient
  • Inpatient and outpatient surgical cases spanning a broad range of specialties including Neuro, Ortho, Cardiac, Bariatrics, ENT, GYN, Vascular, Thoracic, Urology, Plastics, Robotics, and more

Requirements

  • Active CA RN license required
  • Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and PALS (must be AHA or ARC)
  • Minimum 3 years of PACU experience required
  • Teaching hospital experience required
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Travel nursing experience required
  • Prior charge nurse experience preferred
  • 2 supervisor references obtained within the past year required for consideration
  • 7-year work history verification required; candidates must be prepared to provide documentation or contacts for any positions that cannot be independently verified

Additional Information

  • Responsibilities include post-anesthesia care across a wide range of surgical specialties and procedure types, management of arterial lines, central lines, PICC lines, chest tubes, ventilated patients, and ICP/EVD monitoring, as well as administration of IV vasopressors, narcotics, reversal agents, antiarrhythmics, and anticoagulation therapy
  • Proficiency expected in dysrhythmia recognition and management, ABG interpretation, pain assessment and management, PCA pump management, malignant hyperthermia protocol, and RASS scoring
  • Pediatric patient management experience is applicable to this role given Pedi PACU coverage
  • Previous permanent or travel employment at this facility requires a minimum 1-year separation before returning as a traveler; former manager name(s) must be provided on the application
  • Local candidates are accepted; candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify for travel pay rates
  • RTO is capped at 7 days per contract; only 1 holiday RTO request will be approved per contract
  • Holidays covered include New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day; holiday periods begin at 7:00 PM the evening before and end at 7:00 AM the day after
