Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a PACU position requiring 3 years of PACU experience and Epic proficiency.

Details

  • Work in the PACU (Post-Anesthesia Care Unit) of a hospital environment
  • Provides Phase I and Phase II recovery care
  • Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
  • Weekend shifts required
  • Block scheduling accommodated, with preference for 4x10-hour shifts
  • Uses Epic EMR system
  • No floating to other units required
  • No on-call requirements

Requirements

  • Active RN license, Compact or Louisiana (LA), required in hand upon submission
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and PALS (AHA-issued)
  • Minimum 3 years of PACU experience required
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Experience caring for surgical patients across specialties including cardiac, neuro, ortho, vascular, bariatric, and general surgery
  • Skilled in airway assessment, ventilator management, and hemodynamic monitoring
  • Experience with post-anesthesia recovery for general, local, MAC, and regional anesthesia types
  • Up-to-date NURSYS report required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Provide post-anesthesia recovery care to a wide variety of surgical patients including cardiac, neuro, ortho, vascular, bariatric, and GI surgery cases
  • Monitor and manage patients recovering from general, local, MAC, and nerve block anesthesia
  • Perform hemodynamic monitoring including arterial lines, CVP, and dysrhythmia recognition
  • May be assigned to an Emergency Team during declared emergency events, requiring on-site presence until relief arrives
  • Orientation is held five days a week
  • Two Manager/Supervisor references (not Charge RNs) required prior to starting the contract
  • Candidates must live more than 65 miles from the facility to be eligible
  • No excessive RTO permitted; RTO must be disclosed and discussed during the interview process
  • First-time travelers considered only with extensive PACU experience and Epic proficiency
  • Previous Ochsner Health permanent staff or in-house agency contractors must have a 1-year separation before returning as a travel candidate
