Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced OR RN for a 13-week night shift travel contract at a Level II Trauma Center, requiring an active VA or Compact RN license and a minimum of 2 years of OR experience.

Details

  • Operating Room (OR) unit within a hospital setting
  • Night shift schedule: 23:30–07:00 (5x8-hour shifts)
  • 13-week contract
  • On-call requirement of 3–4 call shifts every 6 weeks (8 hours each), with a 30-mile/30-minute proximity to campus required for call
  • Preferred experience with trauma, neuro, ortho spine, general surgery, robotics, and eyes/ENT cases
  • EMR: Epic (OP Time OR module); Epic training class required prior to start, with start date determined by available class options
  • Floating, if required, is done in rotation with facility staff per facility policy and Joint Commission standards

Requirements

  • Active VA or Compact RN license required and must be in hand at time of consideration
  • Current BLS certification required
  • Minimum 2 years of OR nursing experience required
  • Level II Trauma Center experience preferred
  • Orthopedic surgical experience preferred
  • Proof of driver's license (DL) and Social Security card (SSN) required for consideration
  • Must reside within 30 miles or 30 minutes of the facility to meet on-call obligations

  • All travelers must attend either an accelerated or 2-day Epic orientation class; travelers who were previously at this facility within the past 6 months may be exempt from Epic class
  • Up to 7 hours of non-billable online modules are required and completed during orientation
  • Flu vaccine is required during flu season (Oct 1–Mar 31); religious or medical exemptions must comply with CMS guidelines
  • COVID vaccination verification or a qualified exemption is required
  • This is a smoke/nicotine-free facility
  • Candidates who were previously employed as permanent staff at this facility must wait one year before returning as a traveler
  • RTO must be submitted at the time of initial consideration; no RTO will be approved after an offer is extended
  • RTO should be kept to a minimum — full calendar weeks off are discouraged, and holiday coverage should be expected
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
