Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced OR RN for a Level I trauma center in Charleston, SC, requiring a SC or compact RN license and scrub experience.

Details

  • Work setting is a Level I academic trauma center, Magnet-designated hospital with 820 staffed beds
  • Assignment is in the Main OR, which includes 21 OR suites covering all surgical specialties: Trauma, Transplant, Ortho, Neuro, ENT, GU-GYN, and Robotics
  • RNs are trained to both scrub and circulate surgical procedures
  • Nursing team is composed of 75% RNs and 25% Certified Surgical Technologists
  • Shift is 4x10-hour days, 10:30 AM – 9:00 PM
  • On-call is required: 2 call shifts per month (weekends, 7 AM–7 PM or 7 PM–7 AM)
  • Up to one working weekend shift every 4 weeks is required
  • At least one holiday period will be required
  • Floating within scope or to like units/sister facilities is required
  • Charting is done in Epic

Requirements

  • Active SC RN license or compact/multi-state RN license required; candidates with a pending SC license will be considered, but must have an active SC license before starting
  • Current AHA certifications required: BLS
  • Radiation badge required (provided by agency)
  • Minimum 2 years of OR RN experience strongly preferred
  • Level I trauma center experience required
  • Scrub experience strongly preferred
  • SSN and driver's license required for consideration
  • 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration

Additional Information

  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Previous permanent or PRN staff at any MUSC location must have been separated from the system for at least 1 year before being eligible to work as a traveler
  • Non-local candidates are prioritized; local candidates (within 60 miles of the facility) are considered on a case-by-case basis
  • Candidates living within 60 miles of the facility are considered local
  • All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted upfront and is subject to facility approval based on unit needs
  • Pre-start orientation modules are completed prior to the assignment start date and average approximately 4 hours
  • Scrubs are provided by the facility
