Travel Ophthalmic Technician - $2,799 to $2,800 per week in San Francisco, CA

Seeking a skilled and patient-focused Ophthalmic Technician to support ophthalmologists and clinical staff within a high-volume outpatient ophthalmology setting. The technician will perform a variety of diagnostic tests, patient assessments, and clinical support duties while delivering exceptional patient care across adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations.

The ideal candidate will have strong ophthalmic technical skills, experience in specialty eye care environments, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced academic medical center.

• Conduct comprehensive ophthalmic workups including:
  • Visual acuity testing
  • Refractions
  • Tonometry
  • Pupillary assessments
  • Extraocular muscle testing
  • Color vision testing
• Obtain and document patient medical histories, medications, and allergies in Epic EMR.
• Perform diagnostic imaging and testing including:
  • OCT
  • Fundus photography
  • Visual field testing
  • Auto-refraction
  • Keratometry
  • Lensometry
• Assist ophthalmologists during examinations and specialized procedures.
• Administer dilating drops and perform eye irrigation as ordered.
• Recognize and report abnormalities, disease symptoms, or urgent eye conditions to providers.
• Educate patients regarding procedures, treatments, and follow-up care.
• Maintain ophthalmic equipment, infection control standards, and clinical room readiness.
• Support patient flow and collaborate with interdisciplinary clinical teams.
• Float to other facilities as needed based on operational requirements.
