Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Operating Room position specializing in Urology, Gynecology/Oncology, and transplant surgeries, requiring robotic surgery experience.

Details

  • Work in the Operating Room of a Magnet-designated teaching hospital
  • Tier 5 assignment focused on GYN/GU/Transplant cases
  • Cases include kidney transplant, hysterectomy, nephrectomy, cystectomy, ureteroscopy, laparoscopic gynecology, HOLEP, ureteroscopy, and organ procurements
  • Uses the Da Vinci Xi robotic surgical system for urologic and gynecologic robotic procedures
  • 1:1 patient ratio
  • Day/Evening shift schedule, 12-hour shifts Monday through Friday variation from 0940-2210
  • Weekend call required
  • First two weeks consist of orientation shifts from 0640-1510 Monday through Friday
  • Floating required as needed
  • Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

  • Active RN license (WI or Compact) currently in hand
  • BLS certification required (AHA only)
  • Minimum 2 years of acute care experience within the last 3 years in the specialty
  • Experience required in Urology, Gynecology/Oncology, kidney transplant, pancreas transplant, and robotic surgery
  • Experience with Da Vinci Xi robotic system
  • Skills required in abdominal/vaginal hysterectomy, anterior/posterior repair, laparoscopic gynecological procedures, cystectomy, cystoscopy, nephrectomy, prostatectomy, and TURP
  • Epic charting system experience required
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Trauma Level I and II experience preferred
  • Previous charge experience preferred
  • Must pass a telemetry exam with strict passing criteria prior to start

Additional Information

  • Perform circulating and scrub duties for complex GYN, urology, and transplant surgical procedures
  • Responsibilities include administration of blood and blood products, specimen handling/labeling, and universal protocol time-out procedures
  • Knowledge of infection control, laser safety, emergency management, code response, fire safety, and malignant hyperthermia protocols required
  • Work setting includes General OR, Trauma, and Kidney Transplant services
  • Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility as local candidates are not accepted
  • First-time travelers are not being considered for this position
