Description

American Traveler is hiring a Chemo Certified Oncology RN for an outpatient multispecialty clinic role requiring 2+ years of specialty experience and a CT or compact RN license.

Details

  • Outpatient multispecialty clinic setting within a Level I Trauma Center academic medical center
  • Unit focuses on Breast Oncology, Breast Surgery, and Plastic Surgery patients
  • Day shift schedule, 4x9-hour shifts from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM
  • Duties include telephone triage, in-basket management, and assisting providers during clinic visits
  • Involves new and return patient visits, pre-op/post-op teaching, and chemo teaching
  • Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

  • Active RN license (CT or Compact) required
  • BLS certification required
  • Chemotherapy certification (ONS/ONCC) required
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience in oncology or related specialty required (1.5 years considered with Level I trauma or travel experience)
  • Outpatient clinic experience and phone triage experience required
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Skilled in IV therapy, port access/management, and symptom management
  • Experience with chemotherapy administration and oncologic emergency response required
  • Knowledge of breast cancer patient care preferred
  • 1 professional reference required for consideration
  • Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted
  • COVID vaccine and booster required, with exemptions only for religious or medical reasons

Additional Information

  • Responsible for patient/family education, symptom management, and psychosocial support for oncology patients
  • Administers and manages chemotherapy including oral administration and biotherapy side effect monitoring
  • Provides care for patients experiencing pain, nausea/vomiting, altered mental status, and skin/mucous membrane alterations
  • Recognizes and communicates abnormal lab values and manages anaphylaxis or other oncologic emergencies
  • Scrub color required: royal blue
  • Candidates must reside outside a 75-mile radius of the hospital to be considered, as local candidates are not accepted
  • Previous staff must be separated from the facility for at least 2 years before returning as a travel RN
  • Up to 7 days of RTO can be auto-approved during the assignment
  • Travelers are expected to participate in emergency response activities such as natural disasters if required
  • Trauma center experience at a large facility is required due to the hospital's Level I Trauma Center designation
