Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a night shift Oncology position in St. Louis, MO, requiring a minimum of 1 year of inpatient oncology experience and an active MO or compact RN license.

Details

  • 8 East Oncology unit in a hospital setting, with some neuro overflow, medical, and end-of-life patients
  • 15-bed unit with a 1:5–6 patient-to-nurse ratio
  • Equipment used includes Alaris pumps, NOVA glucometers, and remote telemetry
  • EMR: Epic
  • Night shift, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
  • 13-week contract with 36 or 48 hours per week
  • Weekends scheduled based on unit needs, no more than every other weekend
  • On-call required as determined by facility needs
  • Floating required to any unit within the med/surg service line as needed

Requirements

  • Active RN license — must meet eligibility criteria for Missouri licensure or hold a current MO or compact RN license
  • Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) only — no expiring certifications within the first 30 days of assignment unless renewal is documented
  • Minimum 1 year of recent inpatient oncology experience required
  • Skills required: medication administration, EMR documentation, and physical assessment
  • Must have a valid U.S. Social Security Number (Canadian SINs not accepted)
  • No gaps in employment of 90+ days within the past 12 months
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, lift, and turn patients with assistance; push, pull, and grip up to 50 lbs.; pinch up to 15 lbs.

Additional Information

  • Provides direct patient care across all age groups, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
  • Coordinates patient care activities with ancillary departments to optimize patient care and comfort
  • ONS Chemo Certification is preferred
  • Black scrubs required
  • Night shift orientation is conducted on day shift; candidate must be available the entire orientation week
  • Flu vaccination (or a Mercy-approved exemption) is required for all travelers from November 1 through April 1 — declinations are not accepted
  • RTO of up to 5 days is allowed but must be made up during the assignment; only 1 holiday RTO request allowed per assignment
  • Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are eligible but subject to a reduced bill rate and may be limited to 3 consecutive 13-week contracts before a separation period or transfer is required
  • This is a Level 2 Trauma Center and Joint Commission Comprehensive Stroke Center facility
