Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Oncology RN for a Level 1 Trauma teaching hospital, requiring 2 years of oncology experience and a MO or compact RN license.

Details

  • Primary oncology unit treating all types of cancer across all phases of care, from work-up through completion of therapy
  • Administers inpatient chemotherapy regimens
  • Cares for Uro-gyn and Gyn-onc surgical population, providing post-operative care
  • Unit also serves as step-down neuro overflow for strokes, head bleeds, and other neurological needs
  • Patient ratio of 1:5
  • Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (6:45 AM - 7:15 PM)
  • Weekend requirement of 8 shifts within Saint Luke's 6-week schedule period, combination of Friday/Saturday/Sunday
  • Regular floating may be required between departments, units, and facilities as needed
  • Both Kansas and Missouri (or compact) RN license required in hand due to floating requirements
  • No on-call requirements
  • Charting system: Epic
  • 456 staffed beds

Requirements

  • Active MO or compact RN license required
  • BLS certification required
  • Chemotherapy certification (ONS/ONCC) preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of recent oncology experience required, with no employment gaps greater than 90 days in the past year
  • Previous charge experience preferred
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Proficiency required in IV therapy and infusions, including blood/blood product administration, central line care, and port management
  • Experience managing oncologic emergencies, including sepsis
  • Skilled in symptom management including nausea/vomiting, neuropathy, altered mental status, and edema
  • Experience with pain management including IV push narcotics and PCA pump management
  • Knowledge of chest tube, colostomy, and Foley catheter care and management
  • Telemetry monitoring and interpretation skills required
  • Wound care and post-surgical care experience required
  • Isolation and neutropenic precaution knowledge required
  • Pending license accepted
  • SSN required for consideration
  • Two professional references required, one from a supervisor and one from a charge RN, both from within the past year

  • Facility is a 5-time Magnet-designated, Level 1 Trauma teaching hospital
  • Provide comprehensive oncology nursing care across all cancer types and treatment phases
  • Support charge RN duties and holiday shifts as needed per unit
  • Candidates must reside at least 75 miles from the facility to be considered
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Maximum RTO of 7 days; requests must be finalized at time of submission with no changes after offer
