Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Oncology Infusion RN with 2+ years of specialty experience and required Chemo certification for an outpatient cancer center position.

Details

  • Outpatient oncology infusion clinic setting
  • Oncology Infusion RN caring for patients with all oncology diagnoses, GI/GU diagnoses requiring infusion, OB fluid/nausea/vomiting regimens, research protocols, migraine protocols, and antibiotics
  • Performs specialized procedures including BCG, cystoscopies, and intrathecal chemotherapy administration
  • Patient ratio of 1:7
  • Day shift schedule, 5x8-hour shifts, Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm
  • No weekend requirements
  • No on-call requirements
  • Floating required within scope to meet facility needs, including to affiliate hospitals nearby
  • Open to accommodating block schedules
  • Uses Epic (Excellian) charting system
  • Navy scrub color required

Requirements

  • Active MN RN license required (pending license accepted)
  • Current BLS certification required
  • Chemotherapy certification (ONS/ONCC) required
  • Minimum 2 years of oncology experience required
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • Epic/Excellian charting experience required
  • Extensive oncology skill set required including IV therapy/infusions, port access and management, chemotherapy administration, biotherapy, and recognition/management of oncologic emergencies
  • Experience caring for patients with various cancer types including bladder/kidney, brain, breast, colorectal, lung, and lymphoma
  • Previous charge experience preferred
  • Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
  • Minimum 1 supervisor reference required for consideration
  • Date of birth, SSN, certifications, and Nursys verification required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive oncology infusion care including chemotherapy administration, symptom management, and patient/family education
  • Recognize and manage oncologic emergencies such as anaphylaxis, sepsis, and tumor lysis syndrome
  • Collaborate with care team on psychosocial support and advanced care planning
  • Must reside at least 100 miles from the facility to be considered for this position
  • First-time travelers are not accepted for this role
  • Traveler must be gone 3 months from last shift worked as Perm (Staff or Per Diem) with this health system to be eligible for return
  • RTO should ideally be no more than 5 days
  • Pre-start modules required, averaging approximately 8 hours to complete
  • Client may cancel up to 3 shifts at any time without penalty or obligation to pay for cancelled time
  • MN state fingerprinting requirement applies with no exceptions; candidates must complete LiveScan fingerprinting either locally or in Minnesota
