Key Responsibilities- Assess patients' level of functioning upon physician orders and plan and implement appropriate treatment based on evaluation results and patient and family goals.
- Participate in the interdisciplinary team process, including team conferences, and collaborate with other team members to provide optimal patient care.
- Complete all required documentation including initial evaluations, daily progress notes, treatment plans, and discharge summaries according to department policy and within defined timeframes.
- Participate in discharge planning for each patient, including placement recommendations, patient and family education, and adaptive equipment issuance and training.
- Supervise Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants, OT and COTA students, and assist with new staff orientation.
- Promote patient and employee safety in all key areas including safe patient handling, infection control, and fall prevention.
Required Qualifications- Current licensure or eligibility for licensure as an Occupational Therapist in the state of Michigan.
- Knowledge of and ability to comply with applicable federal, state, and local standards, regulations, and guidelines governing occupational therapy practice.
- Ability to perform comprehensive patient evaluations and develop individualized treatment plans.
- Strong documentation skills with the ability to complete records accurately and within required timeframes.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise OT assistants and students competently.
Preferred Experience / Skills- Prior experience in a rehabilitation or post-acute care setting.
- Experience with interdisciplinary team collaboration and discharge planning processes.
- Familiarity with continuous quality improvement practices in a clinical environment.
