Key Responsibilities
  • Assess patients' level of functioning upon physician orders and plan, implement, and document individualized treatment plans based on evaluation results and patient and family goals.
  • Participate in the interdisciplinary team process, including team conferences, and collaborate with other team members to provide comprehensive patient care.
  • Coordinate and document discharge planning for each patient, including placement recommendations, patient and family education, and adaptive equipment needs.
  • Supervise Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants and OT or COTA students in the application of occupational therapy theory and techniques.
  • Complete all required documentation, including initial evaluations, daily progress notes, and discharge disposition, in accordance with department policies and defined timeframes.
  • Promote patient and employee safety by adhering to safe patient handling practices, infection control protocols, and facility safety policies.
Required Qualifications
  • Current licensure or eligibility for licensure as an Occupational Therapist in the state of Kentucky.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform comprehensive patient evaluations and develop individualized treatment plans.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local standards, regulations, and guidelines governing occupational therapy practice.
  • Ability to supervise therapy assistants and students competently and effectively.
  • Strong documentation skills with the ability to complete records accurately and within required timeframes.
Preferred Experience / Skills
  • Prior experience in an inpatient rehabilitation or acute care setting.
  • Experience with interdisciplinary team collaboration and discharge planning processes.
  • Familiarity with adaptive equipment selection, training, and documentation.
