Occupational Therapist - Acute
LocationAlliance, NE
Schedule / Job TypeContract | Days | 8:00AM–5:00PM with one-hour lunch; one weekend day per month required
Key Responsibilities- Evaluate, plan, coordinate, administer, and supervise occupational therapy treatments to restore functional abilities, relieve pain, and prevent or minimize disability using client-centered and evidence-based practice
- Provide age-specific OT services including therapeutic exercise, splinting, modalities, and self-care training across all patient age groups
- Complete all required patient care documentation including evaluations, daily notes, re-evaluations, discharge summaries, and Medicare forms accurately and within required timeframes
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members including physical therapy, speech therapy, nursing, and physicians to coordinate patient care
- Supervise Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs) and OT student interns in accordance with the OT practice act and Medicare guidelines
- Participate in departmental quality assurance initiatives, policy and procedure reviews, and community outreach activities
Required Qualifications- Current Occupational Therapist licensure with the State of Nebraska
- Certification to administer Electrotherapeutic Agents, Deep Thermal Agents, and Superficial Thermal Agents
- Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued through the American Heart Association
- Reliable personal transportation required; rideshare services are not available in the assignment area
Preferred Experience / Skills- 1–2 years of experience in a rural healthcare setting preferred; new graduates will be considered
- Experience supervising COTAs and/or OT student interns
- Familiarity with swing bed program activities and acute care environments
