Job Title: Occupational Therapist Profession: Therapy/Rehabilitation Specialty: Acute Care Hospital Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 8 Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience required License: State License required Certifications: BLS, NBCOT Must-Have: - CVA, trauma, ortho, medical surgical, neuro, ambulatory care experience - Charting System experience required Description: Plans and implements Occupational Therapy programs for patients. Participates in department programs by performing various duties. Works with patients diagnosed with CVA, trauma, orthopedic, medical surgical, neuro, and other conditions. Utilizes skills in above-knee and below-knee prosthetics, hand injury, hip fracture, total hip replacement, knee injuries, and total knee replacement. Assesses cognitive functions and manages patients in a coma. Provides education to patients and families regarding the treatment plan. Conducts evaluations and reassessments to ensure effective therapy delivery. Focuses on safety and injury prevention techniques. Collaborates with interdisciplinary support teams including Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Social Services, and Pharmacy. Maintains excellent communication and teamwork with colleagues. Handles pre-discharge planning and develops home exercise programs for patients. Supports patients with multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, and traumatic brain injuries. Engages in planning for discharge and ensures a smooth transition for patients.
