Job Title: Occupational Therapist Profession: Clinical Specialists/Professionals Specialty: FS Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Days Hours per Shift: 8 Experience: Acute and trauma experience required License: Current license from the state board of medical licensure and supervision as an Occupational Therapist Certifications: Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire Must-Have: - Knowledge of the principles and practices of professional occupational therapy and the materials and supplies utilized in the program - Skill in organizing and instructing occupational therapy activities - Ability to interpret prescriptions related to therapy needed - Good interpersonal skills in establishing effective working relationships with staff - Ability to communicate instructions and technical information to patients - Some computer skills Description: Under general supervision, performs professional occupational therapy activities. Planning, evaluating, establishing, and implementing individual and group treatment activities under the direction of a physician is required. Interpret a physician's referral and select an appropriate standardized evaluation procedure. Evaluate patients in areas such as independent living skills, occupational performance, prevocational work adjustment, educational skills, play-leisure abilities, social skills, and various psychosocial skills. Interpret the data and develop a treatment plan with short and long-term goals, frequency, and duration of treatment. Assist patients in carrying out these procedures through the design and fabrication of adaptive equipment and orthotic devices, joint protection, and body mechanics. Inform patients and families about goals and progress. Assist with discharge planning by ordering equipment and instructing patients on home therapy plans. May supervise students. Perform other duties as assigned.
