Job Title: Occupational Therapist Profession: Health Care Specialty: Occupational Therapy Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Monday through Friday Hours per Shift: 8 am to 4:40 pm, 30-minute lunch, one full weekend per month Experience: - Two years of experience working as an Occupational Therapist in an acute care setting License: - Permanent or temporary license as an Occupational Therapist from the state department of health Certifications: - BLS Must-Have: - Ability to perform patient evaluations using appropriate functional tests/measures - Ability to tolerate physically demanding tasks related to patient care - Knowledge of proper documentation in the electronic medical record - Critical thinking skills for patient evaluation and treatment planning - Understanding of physical agent modalities relevant to practice areas - Knowledge of cardiopulmonary, musculoskeletal, nervous, and integumentary systems - Ability to identify learning needs of patients and family members - Teamwork skills to assist patients and families in care transitions - Ability to lift, handle, push, or pull up to 50 pounds - Proficiency in operating essential medical equipment Description: The Occupational Therapist is responsible for implementing the physician's order for Occupational Therapy services. The Occupational Therapist provides all necessary aspects of Occupational Therapy within an interdisciplinary environment. The goal is to facilitate the return of the patient to an independent and safe lifestyle. The Occupational Therapist must have knowledge of growth and development in order to care for patients of various age groups. The therapist demonstrates skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care. They assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret information needed to identify care requirements. The Occupational Therapist constructs short-term and long-term goals based on functional deficits. They must demonstrate proper documentation within the electronic medical record. The Therapist interprets and follows physician's orders, cooperates with colleagues, and is responsive to patient needs. They must be able to operate essential medical equipment such as blood pressure monitors, pulse oximeters, and assistive devices.
