Key Responsibilities of the Occupational Therapist
  • Provide case management and direct patient care
  • Administer comprehensive skilled care
  • Ensure Care Delivery Services adhere to agency policies and goals
  • Promote respectful communication with patients and staff
  • Develop and revise patient treatment and discharge plans
  • Consult and educate patients and families on self-care techniques
  • Supervise Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTA)
  • Coordinate and evaluate quality of patient care services
  • Participate in patient care conferences and complete clinical records

Requirements of the Occupational Therapist
  • Graduate of an approved Occupational Therapy program
  • Possession of current OT license to practice in New York State
  • Minimum of one-year experience in a Long Term Care/Home Care setting
  • Recent Home Care experience (within the last year)
  • Working knowledge of Occupational Therapy apparatus and equipment
  • Knowledge of community resources and Oasis documentation
