Job Title: Occupational Therapy Assistant Profession: Occupational Therapy Assistant Specialty: Long Term Care Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Days M-F Hours per Shift: 8 hr days, flexible times Experience: 1 year of OTA experience required License: Active State Licensure/Registration required Certifications: OTA license required Must-Have: Level II fieldwork experience for new graduates Description: Utilizes evidence-based practice to support clinical interventions. Provides rehabilitative, skilled, and medically necessary treatment intervention to patients with cognitive and/or physical functioning disorders under the supervision and direction of an Occupational Therapist. Administers various procedures as part of the rehabilitation plan including but not limited to: ADL retraining, therapeutic activities, therapeutic exercises, modalities, and use of supportive and assistive devices. Assesses patient progress and communicates with supervising Occupational Therapist to adjust treatments accordingly in the clinical record. Reports effectiveness of treatment outcomes to supervising Occupational Therapist. Provides consultation to patients, families, caregivers, and other service providers related to cognitive and/or physical disorders. Effectively communicates with supervisor and other health team members regarding patient progress, barriers, and treatment plans. Provides input to supervisor for discharge summary of services provided. Documents all regulatory and clinically required information in the electronic documentation system and maintains patient records according to company policy. Accurately records treatment minutes for services provided according to all regulatory and clinical requirements. Participates in required meetings including but not limited to patient care conferences and rehabilitation meetings. Participates in facility and company required trainings, in-services, and conferences. Able to work with supervising Occupational Therapist to obtain any necessary durable medical equipment or supplies. Able to supervise and support students under the guidance of the Occupational Therapist. Adheres to practice acts, codes of conduct, and ethics during professional practice as an Occupational Therapy Assistant.
