Kirby Forensic Psychiatric Center is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse specializing in wound care to provide comprehensive assessment, treatment, and management of patient wounds within a forensic psychiatric healthcare environment. The Certified Wound Care Nurse Specialist will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality patient care while ensuring compliance with clinical standards, infection prevention protocols, and regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities · Assess, evaluate, and monitor patient wounds to determine appropriate treatment strategies and ongoing care needs. · Develop, implement, and update individualized wound care treatment plans. · Perform wound cleaning, dressing changes, debridement, and other specialized wound care procedures using sterile techniques. · Monitor patient progress and modify treatment plans based on healing outcomes and clinical evaluations. · Educate patients and staff on wound care best practices, skin integrity management, and infection prevention measures. · Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams to optimize patient care and treatment outcomes. · Conduct regular follow-up assessments and document wound status, interventions, and patient responses accurately and timely. · Maintain compliance with healthcare regulations, infection control standards, and facility policies. · Support staff education and provide guidance related to wound care protocols and procedures. · Participate in quality improvement initiatives and other assigned clinical duties as required. Work Schedule & Conditions · Schedule: 2–3 Days per Week · Overtime: Not required · Travel: Not required · Holidays: Not required to work NYS holidays · Work Environment: Forensic psychiatric healthcare facility Qualifications & Requirements · Active Registered Nurse (RN) License in the State of New York · Certified Wound Care Nurse (CWCN) or equivalent wound care certification required · Demonstrated experience in wound care nursing or related clinical specialty · Advanced knowledge of wound care treatments, technologies, and healing protocols · Experience performing debridement and specialized wound care procedures · Strong documentation, communication, and interdisciplinary collaboration skills · Leadership ability to mentor and educate staff on wound care practices · Candidates must have prior wound care experience to be considered · Additional Information · Max Bill Rate: $160/hour (No VMS Fee & NBO) · Question Deadline: May 14, 2026 · Submission Deadline: May 20, 2026
