Job Title: Wound Ostomy Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Wound Ostomy Nursing Duration: 12 months Shift: Monday - Friday Hours per Shift: 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM Experience: Minimum of four (4) years of clinical experience, with two (2) years preferred in wound and ostomy care License: Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of California - Current and in good standing Certifications: Wound and Ostomy Certification (CWON) required Must-Have: Must have CWON Certification Description: Functions as the clinical resource for patients and staff for ostomy, continence disorders, acute and chronic wound and skin breakdown, and fistulae. Provides direct wound and ostomy care in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Provides patient and family teaching and instruction on wound and ostomy management, both pre and post-operatively. Assists the healthcare team in evaluating skin and wound products and equipment. Provides educational programs, in-services, and bedside teaching for nursing staff. Stays up-to-date with skin care practices and shares advances in wound and skin care assessments, evaluations, treatments, and prevention measures. Assesses all patients with a pressure injury staged at Three (3) or above. Reviews all patients that have developed a pressure injury acquired in the healthcare setting and meets appropriate reporting requirements. Assesses overall needs and practices to eliminate healthcare-acquired pressure injuries. Demonstrates initiative and strong interpersonal skills. Exhibits knowledge of infection control and patient safety protocols. Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills. Exemplifies strong job knowledge, patient counseling, and business acumen. Maintains trust and accountability in professional relationships. Demonstrates the ability to handle technology and equipment relevant to wound and ostomy care. Possesses the ability to demonstrate innovation and ensure customer satisfaction.
