Job Title: Registered Nurse - ICU Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 hours Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: No license or background hits; must pass a fail exam during orientation; artificial nails prohibited. Description: This position is for a Registered Nurse in an Intensive Care Unit. The unit treats adults and pediatrics over 15 years old with various trauma injuries. Common patient diagnoses include sepsis, stroke, ARDS, MODS, and cardiac arrest. The nurse to patient ratio is 1:1-2 for ICU patients and 1:4 for PCU patients. All RNs are required to titrate medication drips, including vasopressors and sedation. There is a charge nurse on every shift, who may also take patient assignments. Patient care technicians assist with care, with a ratio of 1:18. RNs are expected to troubleshoot respiratory therapy equipment and interpret telemetry. Self-scheduling is available based on unit needs. Weekend requirements include four shifts every six weeks. All RNs may float to inpatient units, excluding maternity and NICU. The dress code is navy blue scrubs. The unit is fast-paced with critically ill patients, requiring strong critical thinking skills and a positive attitude. Additional time off must be requested upfront, and last-minute requests will not be accommodated. The facility can cancel up to four shifts during the assignment.
