The role follows a primary RN care model. Nursing care ratios are 1:2 for critical care patients. 1:1 nursing care support is provided for burn trauma code 1 admissions and high acuity post-operative patients. The RN will be responsible for invasive hemodynamic monitoring at least once per hour. The RN will manage IV drip titration and nurse-driven burn fluid resuscitation according to the Parkland formula. Ventilator management and continuous venovenous hemofiltration (CVVH) will be needed. The RN will conduct pulse and flap Doppler checks every hour. Initial debridement and dressing changes are part of the responsibilities. The position requires experience in conscious sedation and surgical recovery. The RN will also manage epidural pumps for pain control. The unit cares for patients with various burn injuries, including flame, scald, electrical, chemical burns, inhalation injuries, necrotic ischemia, and necrotizing fasciitis. Nursing care will be provided throughout the continuum of care for these patients.
