Travel Nurse RN - Telemetry in Phoenix, AZ

Key Responsibilities Provide direct patient care on a 32-bed Neuro Telemetry unit with a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio, caring for patients with diagnoses including CVA, TBI, spinal surgery, encephalopathy, ESRD, brain tumors, and tracheostomy needs. Deliver bedside report, participate in charge nurse responsibilities with a light patient assignment when assigned, and float to telemetry units or telemetry overflow in the ICU as needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 32-bed Neuro Telemetry unit with a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio, caring for patients with diagnoses including CVA, TBI, spinal surgery, encephalopathy, ESRD, brain tumors, and tracheostomy needs
• Titrate IV drips including Heparin, Amiodarone, Cardizem, and Insulin per protocol
• Interpret EKGs and monitor patients via central telemetry monitoring
• Perform and maintain competency in sterile procedures including Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes
• Deliver bedside report, participate in charge nurse responsibilities with a light patient assignment when assigned, and float to telemetry units or telemetry overflow in the ICU as needed
• Fulfill weekend shift requirements (4 shifts per 8-week schedule) and participate in the holiday rotation

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license with a minimum of 2 years of experience
• Level 1 Trauma experience required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• Demonstrated ability to titrate drips (Amiodarone, Cardizem, Insulin, Heparin)
• Proficiency in EKG interpretation; must pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to acceptance (two attempts allowed)
• Competency in sterile field technique, including Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes; must pass a Day 1 SIMs Lab skills assessment

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Neuro nursing experience strongly preferred
• Familiarity with Cerner EMR
• Experience in a fast-paced, high-turnover telemetry or neuro unit
