Registered Nurse (RN) – Telemetry / Observation

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Full-Time | Onsite | Days | 12-Hour Shifts (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM) | Schedule released 4 weeks in advance, subject to change based on unit needs

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care on a 21–23 bed Observation unit with patient ratios of 1:4 to 1:5
  • Read and interpret telemetry strips from a centrally monitored system
  • Titrate drips including Diltiazem, Heparin, and Amiodarone per protocol
  • Manage patients on CPAP, BiPAP, and High Flow oxygen in collaboration with Respiratory Therapy
  • Perform and maintain competency in sterile field procedures including Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes
  • Float as needed to MedSurg Telemetry floors and alternate campuses, with 1–2 hours notice; floating may occur mid-shift
Required Qualifications
  • Active RN license in good standing
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications
  • Level I Trauma experience required
  • Must pass a dysrhythmia exam with a score of 80% or higher within 2 attempts prior to contract start
  • Must successfully complete SIMs Lab skills assessment (pass/fail) including Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes; demonstrated competency in sterile field technique is essential
  • Proficiency with Cerner EMR
Preferred Experience / Skills
  • Strong MedSurg and Observation nursing background with solid time management skills
  • Experience titrating vasoactive and cardiac drips in a monitored setting
  • Charge nurse experience preferred; charge nurses may carry an assignment of 1–3 patients depending on staffing
  • Familiarity with common diagnoses including chest pain, syncope, post-operative, and trauma observation patients
