Registered Nurse – Telemetry (Neuro Tele)

Schedule / Job TypeContract | Night Shift (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) | Onsite
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct patient care on a 32-bed Neuro Telemetry unit with a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio, caring for patients with diagnoses including CVA, TBI, spinal surgery, encephalopathy, ESRD, brain tumors, and tracheostomy needs
- Continuously monitor and interpret EKG rhythms via central telemetry monitoring; titrate drips including Heparin, Amiodarone, and Cardizem per protocol
- Perform and maintain competency in sterile procedures including Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes as validated through SIMs Lab
- Participate in bedside shift report and maintain a fast-paced, high-turnover environment with an average length of stay of 4–5 days
- Float as needed to cardiac telemetry, telemetry overflow in ICU, and med-surg units
- Fulfill weekend requirements of 4 shifts per 8-week period and participate in the permanent holiday rotation
Required Qualifications- Active RN license with a minimum of 2 years of nursing experience
- Level 1 Trauma experience required
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
- Proficiency in EKG interpretation and cardiac dysrhythmia recognition; must pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to acceptance (two attempts permitted)
- Competency in sterile field technique, including Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes
- Experience with Cerner EMR
Preferred Experience / Skills- Prior neurology or neuro-telemetry nursing experience strongly preferred
- Experience titrating vasoactive or cardiac drips in a high-acuity setting
- Familiarity with tracheostomy care and management of complex neurological patient populations
