Schedule / Job TypeContract | Night Shift | 12-Hour Shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) | Onsite
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct nursing care to telemetry and medical/surgical patients, including ED holds awaiting inpatient bed placement
- Read, interpret, and respond to cardiac monitor strips independently, as no monitor technician is present
- Titrate and adjust cardiac drips (including Cardizem, Heparin, and Amiodarone) per physician orders and established parameters
- Assist with patient care tasks such as vital signs, IV starts, and medication administration for ED patients as needed
- Float to med/surg, telemetry, overflow units, and other campus ED departments as needed
- Participate in weekend rotation (4 shifts per 4-week schedule) and holiday rotation with permanent staff
Required Qualifications- Active RN license in good standing
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- Strong cardiac telemetry background with a minimum of 2 years of experience
- Demonstrated ability to titrate cardiac drips per physician orders and parameters
- Must pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to start (maximum of 2 attempts)
- Must pass a Simulation Lab assessment on the first day of orientation
Preferred Experience / Skills- Experience caring for a higher volume of telemetry patients relative to medical/surgical patients
- Familiarity with ED hold patient populations and workflows
- Comfort working in a self-scheduling environment with flexibility for schedule adjustments
