Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Cardiac Tele Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours (19:00 - 07:30) Experience: Minimum of 1 year in a similar unit License: RN License Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: 1 year of EPIC experience Description: Floating is required to units depending on need. Weekend coverage is required every other weekend but may change based on need. Medication systems utilized include Pyxis and Omnicell. Patient diagnoses include but are not limited to: adult patients in observation status, adult patients with chest pain, acute coronary syndrome, cardiac arrhythmias, diabetes, syncope, permanent pacemaker insertion, CVA/TIA/stroke work-up, pneumonia, heart failure, COPD, sepsis, and GI bleed. Special procedures performed in this unit include cardiac telemetry monitoring and permanent pacemaker pacing. Nursing care includes patient assessment, coordination of testing and procedures, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to develop patient-specific plans of care. Consultations with specialty services are included as part of the unit's operation. Type of procedures include: Cardiac telemetry monitoring, TEE, negative pressure isolation, thoracentesis, and paracentesis. Nurses are responsible for the administration of continuous intravenous infusions and IV push medications. Experience with telemetry monitoring and the interpretation and management of dysrhythmias is essential. Nurses collaborate with interdisciplinary support such as physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, and pharmacy.
