Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Telemetry Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Valid RN License Certifications: ACLS Description: Unit Information: Number of Beds: 23 with 1 treatment room. Number of Staff: 58. Type of Staff: Day Shift (Charge Nurse, 6 RNs, 2 PCT, 1 MT, and 1 Department Coordinator until 7 PM). Night Shift (Charge Nurse, 5 RNs, 2 PCT, 1 MT). Patient Ratios: Days/Eves: RNs (1-4). Nights: RNs (1-5). Type of Equipment: Telemetry monitoring with some rooms hard-wired. Vein finder for IV therapy. Portable pulse oximetry, as well as continuous oximetry. Manual/automatic vital sign machine capabilities. Blood glucose monitoring. Mechanical lifts, dopplers, etc. EMR: Allscripts with medication scanning capabilities. Patient Population: Cardiac medical patient population includes: Hemodynamically stable myocardial infarction. Acute/chronic heart failure. New onset atrial fibrillation with or without rapid ventricular response. Stable dysrhythmias. Procedural patients: cardiac catheterizations (radial or femoral) without interventions. Ablations, cardioversions, implantable cardioverter-defibrillators, pacemakers, medication loads, cardiac monitoring. Patients requiring cardiac medications including amiodarone, diltiazem, renal dose dopamine, dobutamine, milrinone, furosemide up to 40 mg, and insulin drips. Also includes ICU transfers, neuro patients, pulmonary patients requiring Bipap, high-flow, and Salter. Typical Hiring Profile: Skill Set Most Recruited For: Must have cardiac telemetry knowledge. ACLS knowledge and skill set for cardiac medical, procedural patients, and cardiac drugs. Preferred or nice to have: Strong medical-surgical knowledge/background with telemetry. List of Typical Procedures Performed: Cardiac catheterizations (left/right, femoral/radial approach) without intervention. Pacemakers, ablations, cardioversions, electrophysiology studies. Administration of cardiac medication drips: amiodarone, diltiazem, renal dose dopamine, dobutamine, milrinone, furosemide, and insulin drips.
