Description

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Active RN License Certifications: ACLS Must-Have: Candidates must have cardiac telemetry knowledge. ACLS knowledge and skill set for cardiac medical and procedural patients. Description: Unit Information: The unit has 23 beds with 1 treatment room. The unit staff consists of 58 members. Day shift staff includes a charge nurse, six RNs, two patient care technicians, one medication technician, and one department coordinator until 7 PM. Night shift staff includes a charge nurse, five RNs, two patient care technicians, and one medication technician. Patient ratios are 1:4 during days/evenings and 1:5 at night. The unit is equipped with telemetry monitoring, some rooms are hard-wired. Additional equipment includes a vein finder for IV therapy, portable pulse oximetry, continuous oximetry, manual/automatic vital sign machines, blood glucose monitors, and mechanical lifts. The electronic medical record system used is Allscripts with medication scanning capabilities. Patient Population: Patients include those who are hemodynamically stable following myocardial infarctions, and those with acute/chronic heart failure. Other patients include individuals with new-onset atrial fibrillation with or without rapid ventricular response, stable dysrhythmias, and procedural patients recovering from cardiac catheterizations without interventions. The patient population also includes ICU transfers, neuro patients, and pulmonary patients requiring bipap and high-flow oxygen. Typical Procedures: Cardiac catheterizations without intervention. Pacemaker insertions, ablations, and cardioversions. Management of cardiac drips including amiodarone, diltiazem, renal dose dopamine, dobutamine, milrinone, furosemide, and insulin drips. Floating Area: Floating within similar areas is required. Dress Code: Client scrubs are the required attire. Weekends and On-call: Every other weekend is required.
