Description:
A professional nurse is accountable for the care of a group of patients.
The Registered Nurse (RN) focuses on safe, effective patient and family-centered care, customer satisfaction, and quality outcomes.
The RN is responsible for assisting in maintaining a financially stable unit.
The RN promotes personal development with an emphasis on evidence-based practice and education supported by a Practice Governance framework.
The RN supervises licensed and non-licensed staff members.
Applying the caring processes, the RN is responsible for assessing, developing, implementing, and evaluating the plan of care.
The RN focuses on patient and family comfort, education, and satisfaction.
The RN applies educational and professional experiences in the delivery of quality care and mentoring/precepting staff.
Responsibilities include:
- Performing assessments and reassessments per policy and procedure or as warranted by patient condition.
- Demonstrating the ability to make sound independent decisions.
- Initiating, prioritizing, and implementing the plan of care and reviewing and revising the plan as indicated.
- Collaborating with patients, families, and interdisciplinary services.
- Utilizing resources appropriately to support the needs of the organization, patients, and families.
- Monitoring and documenting responses to clinical interventions.
- Facilitating, coordinating, providing, and evaluating education specific to patient and family needs.
- Delegating tasks to licensed and non-licensed personnel.
- Functioning as a mentor/preceptor.
- Demonstrating, encouraging, and facilitating teamwork.
- Identifying and appropriately communicating opportunities for improvement.
- Participating in quality, safety, and service process improvement efforts and implementing practice changes.
- Complying with regulatory standards and participating in the Practice Governance model.
