Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Neuro Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour nights Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Level 1 trauma experience Experience in interpreting EKGs Competence in Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes Description: The registered nurse will work on a telemetry unit with 32 beds. The nurse will have a patient ratio of 1:4. Candidates must have experience in neuro nursing, with specialties such as trached patients, CVA, TBI, spinal surgery, encephalopathy, ESRD, psych issues, and brain tumors. The unit operates with a fast-paced and high turnaround. Bedside report is conducted for patient handoffs. The registered nurse will possess the ability to titrate medications such as heparin, amiodarone, and cardizem. Common diagnoses will include cerebrovascular accidents, traumatic brain injury, and neurological disorders. The registered nurse will receive support from an IV team for difficult access needs. The unit has resources in place for respiratory therapy and pharmacy coverage 24/7. The nurse will float to cardiac telemetry or overflow units as needed. Weekend and holiday shifts are required as part of the nurse's schedule. Nurses will undergo educational training on lifts, restraints, and wound care, tailored to facility policies and procedures. The hospital reserves the right to cancel shifts within the assignment period as needed. Candidates will be required to demonstrate their ability to maintain a sterile field during nursing tasks.
