Job Title: Registered Nurse - Telemetry Float Pool Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Nights Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Active RN License required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Must be able to titrate cardiac drips. Travelers need to pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to signing the contract (2 attempts maximum) within 48 hours of the offer. Failure to pass the exam will result in being sent home with a 6-month Do Not Us e status. A pass/fail simulation lab assessment is required on day one of orientation. Failure to pass the simulation lab will result in being sent home with a 6-month Do Not Use status. Description: Must float between all telemetry and medical-surgical units. Floating is required and may include ICU, cardiac telemetry, and other areas. Staff will be notified of campus and unit 1.5 hours prior to shift start. Floating to different units mid-shift is possible. Risk of floating to another campus within the same shift exists but is rare. The distance between campuses is approximately 9 miles with a travel time of 15 minutes depending on traffic. Nurses must clock out upon leaving one campus and clock in when arriving at another campus. Common responsibilities include patient assessment, care planning, and implementation of care for various cardiac-related conditions. Nurses will manage patients requiring continuous monitoring and titration of medications. The types of patients may include those post-cardiac procedures, vascular interventions, and day 2 CABG patients. Nurses will be expected to administer various medications, including Amiodarone, Cardene, Nitro, Heparin, and Dobutamine, while adhering to protocol. Patients will be 15 years old and older; no pediatrics will be involved. Teamwork and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams are crucial for patient care. Weekend shifts consist of four weekend shifts per schedule, requiring working two of three major holidays. Each unit may have specific certifications and ratios related to patient care. The role requires a commitment to quality care and flexibility to meet patient needs across different units.
