Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Telemetry Float Pool Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Must be able to titrate cardiac drips. Travelers will need to pass a dysrhythmia exam within 48 hours of offer. If the traveler fails, they will be sent home and made a DNU for 6 months. There is also a pass/fail simulation lab on day one. If the traveler fails the simulation, they will be sent home and made a DNU for 6 months. Floating is required among various units, including tele and med-surg. Depending on skill level, nurses may float to ICU or other units. Notification of campus and unit will be given 1.5 hours prior to shift start. Mid-shift floating to different units can occur. Travel between campuses may occur, requiring clocking out and in. Description: Prepare to float between all telemetry and medicine-surgery units. Candidates will be required to handle various patient diagnoses. Common patient types include those recovering from vascular procedures and CABG. Care for adult patients aged 15 and older. You will be responsible for interpreting EKGs. Charge nurses will have no patient assignments, while also being supported by clinical supervisors. Respiratory therapy and pharmacy services are available 24/7. All shifts consist of 12 hours, with a common schedule from 7 AM to 7 PM. Weekend coverage is required consistently. Floating may occur to similar or lower acuity units. Expect a patient-to-nurse ratio that varies by unit and shift. Please note the requirement for certifications in BLS and ACLS, with NIHSS recommended. General Med-Surg patients requiring tele monitoring may necessitate titration of specific medications.
