Job Title: Registered Nurse - Telemetry Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: 5E/W Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience required. License: Active RN license required. Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Traveler will be required to pass an EKG competency exam as part of compliance prior to arrival. Wound management experience required, including JP drains and wound vacs. Experience in hemodialysis catheter care. Knowledge of fistulas, PCA, and pain management. Cardiac rhythm interpretation skills needed (telemetry capabilities) required. Description: This position focuses on a heavy population of urology post-operative patients. Patients will include those undergoing robotic radical and simple prostatectomies, partial cystectomies, partial nephrectomies, open radical nephrectomies, and nephroureterectomies. There are many educational opportunities available to travelers in this department as it is a fairly new focus. The unit will also manage Med/Surg overflow patients including sepsis, cellulitis, DVT/PE, CHF, COPD, COVID, and pneumonia. Occasional post-operative overflow will include total joints (knees, hips, shoulders) and GI/abdominal surgeries such as hemicolectomies and bowel resections. Patient care ratios are RN: 1:5-6, and nights typically 1:6. CNA support is available, with typically three per shift unless census does not call for it; up to 1:10 patient ratio at full capacity. Support on the unit includes a charge nurse, RN phlebotomy, and an available IV/VAT team. Charting is done via an electronic medical record system. Travelers will float to any Med/Surg area within the facility. Scheduling requires weekend rotation every other weekend. Employees will work four days one week and three days the next week, which is mandatory. Requests for time off are limited to one weekend per 13-week contract. Holiday expectations include working two out of three holidays. Scrub colors are pewter, with t-shirts to be gray, white, or black. Jackets should be black or gray, and badges must be worn above the waist and in full view at all times.
