Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience required License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Must have post procedural cardiac experience (cath lab, ablations, open heart). Prefer PCU and stepdown experience. Must be able to read and interpret telemetry and document it appropriately. Description: Telemetry unit with a cardiac focus and a variety of patient diagnoses. The nurse to patient ratio is typically 1:4. Experience in managing post-operative cardiac patients is essential. Experience with common telemetry drips, including amiodarone, cardizem, dopamine, and dobutamine is preferred. Charge nurse available on each shift does not typically take a patient assignment unless necessary. Crisis and resource nurse available in-house if needed. Certified nursing assistants available to assist with patient care. Respiratory therapy is present on each floor and manages complex respiratory needs. Nurses are expected to read and interpret telemetry strips twice per shift. A flexible scheduling approach is utilized, with a schedule typically made out for six weeks at a time. Travelers are asked to stay flexible and assist in filling gaps in the schedule. Weekend requirements include 5-6 shifts over a 6-week period. Holiday shifts may be required but are not mandated. Travelers may be floated to other medical/surgical units as needed. All scrubs can be worn in any color. A traveler-friendly environment is fostered, with a focus on team collaboration.
