Must-Have:
Traveler must pass an EKG competency exam as part of compliance prior to arrival.
Previous Telemetry experience is required, including non-titrating cardiac drips and cardiac rhythm interpretation.
Description:
This unit has 21 beds.
The patient types include Med Surg, Ortho, Neuro, and Telemetry.
Common procedures include ORIF, total joints (hips, knees, shoulders), spinal/neck surgeries, hemodialysis, and chest pain rule-out.
Adequate PPE will be provided for COVID precautions.
The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5-6 during day and night shifts.
There are two CNAs per shift to assist.
Support on the unit includes a charge nurse, who may or may not have patient assignments.
Phlebotomy is available to draw peripheral blood only, and the IV/VAT team is available during the day shift.
A hospitalist is available on call 24/7.
Wound care services are also available on site.
Centralized telemetry is provided with assistance from telemetry technicians.
The charting system used is Meditech Expanse, and medication dispensing is done through Pyxis.
Travelers will float to similar units as needed.
Scheduling includes a weekend rotation, working every other weekend.
The standard weekly schedule consists of a four-day week followed by a three-day week.
Time off requests are limited to 7 days, with a mandatory one-week extension for each full week requested off.
Holidays require working two out of three holidays.
Scrub color is pewter, and acceptable t-shirt colors are gray, white, or black.
All badges must be worn above the waist and in full view at all times.
The unit has a team-oriented environment and an open-door policy.
