Job Title: Telemetry Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Days Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 2 years in acute care License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Traveler must pass an EKG competency exam as part of compliance prior to arrival. Experience in wound management, JP drains, wound vacs, hemodialysis catheter care, fistulas, PCA, and pain management is required. Description: This is a brand new Medical Surgical/Telemetry unit in a growing facility. There are many educational opportunities available to travelers. Patient types include sepsis, cellulitis, DVT/PE, CHF, COPD, COVID, and pneumonia. Occasionally, post-operative overflow includes total joints and GI/abdominal surgeries. Patient ratios are RN: 1:5-6 for days and 1:6 for nights with 2 CNAs per shift unless census dictates otherwise. Support on the unit includes a typically free-floating charge nurse and a day shift HUC/secretary. Phlebotomy is in-house, and RNs can draw CVL/PICC/Midline. An IV/VAT team is available from 7 AM to 3 PM for PICC placement. Hospitalists are available in-house for most patients. The charting system utilizes an EMR with specific equipment listed. Travelers are required to float to any Med/Surg area within the hospital. Scheduling includes a weekend rotation every other weekend. The schedule will consist of working 4 days one week and 3 days the next week, which is mandatory. Time off can be requested, but must comply with guidelines outlined. Holiday expectations involve working two out of three holidays. Scrub colors are pewter; T-shirts must be gray, white, or black with a specific monogram. Badges must be worn above the waist and in full view at all times. This position involves working in a supportive and educational environment.
