Description: The Surgical/Trauma Intensive Care Unit is a fast-paced 15-bed unit dedicated to adult critical care patients. Patients may have undergone emergency or complex surgical procedures requiring continuous monitoring and intervention. The unit also cares for individuals with multisystem traumatic injuries from various mechanisms. Nurses in this unit must possess advanced skills in patient assessment and management. Typical nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:2, adjusting based on patient acuity levels. Responsibilities include arterial line management, blood product administration, and care of ventilated patients. The role demands expertise in monitoring for various critical conditions and infection prevention. Nurses will be required to float within their scope of practice as needed. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with interdisciplinary teams are essential. All candidates must adhere to floating policies and demonstrate flexibility with scheduling.
