Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Surgical Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 1 year required, first-timers not accepted License: Must have active state license in hand to apply Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS required Must-Have: - Experience in critical care nursing - Ability to manage a high patient acuity level - Familiarity with charting systems Description: Position involves caring for patients in a surgical intensive care unit. Shifts are scheduled for 3 nights per week from 18:45 to 07:15. Candidates must have a minimum of 1 year of experience in critical care nursing. Weekend work is required; the expectation is to work every other weekend. Certifications required include BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS. Candidates will float to other units within scope as needed, primarily to other ICUs. An open approach to scheduling requests is encouraged; discussions can be had with the manager. Local candidates are accepted with no radius restrictions. RTO should ideally not exceed 5 days. The facility may call off up to 36 hours per 13-week assignment without payment for the canceled hours. If candidates are placed on call instead of being called off, it will count as a canceled shift. The facility is an acute care hospital with Level I trauma capabilities. Total staffed beds are 562. Scrub color is any solid color. The charting system used is Cerner. Daily census averages 11 patients with a patient ratio of 3:1. Support services available include respiratory services, physical therapy, and pharmacy. Special procedures in the unit include EVD placement and bedside bronchoscopy. Candidates should possess skills including ventilator management and interpretation of arterial blood gases. Strong candidates will have a background in managing high-acuity patients with multi-system organ dysfunction/failure. This role requires commitment to high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment.
