Job Title: Registered Nurse - ICU Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: ICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum of 2 years ICU experience License: Required licensure as a Registered Nurse Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Stroke experience - Ventilator management - Assist with intubation and extubation - Central venous line management and placement - Foley catheter management - Tube feedings via NGT or PEG - IV medication titration - Vasoactive drip management - Total care of critically ill patients - Arterial line management - External ventricular drains management - Passing an EKG competency exam prior to arrival Description: This position is for a Registered Nurse in the ICU. The unit has 20 beds with an average daily census of 16 patients. Candidates must have 2 years of experience in ICU. First-time travelers are accepted, provided they have 2 years of permanent staff RN experience in acute care. Travelers must have a separation of at least 1 year if previously employed in a permanent staff role. Patient types include adult surgical and medical ICU patients, with common diagnoses such as STEMI, DKA, respiratory failure, stroke, sepsis, renal failure, neuro, and surgical cases. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:2. Support within the department includes a charge RN with no patient assignment during the day, a CNA per shift, phlebotomy for lab draws, and a PICC team available during the day. Respiratory therapy and hospitalist services are provided 24/7. Technological support includes electronic medical records and IV pumps. Floating to step-down units or medical-surgical units may occur, with ratios of 1:3 and 1:5, respectively. Weekend rotation includes working every other weekend with no on-call requirement. Possible holiday work assignments may occur during the contract duration. Requests for time off are limited to a maximum of 7 days and require approval. Uniform specifics include pewter gray scrubs, gray, white, or black T-shirts with the organization monogram, and jackets in gray or black.
