Position Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) will provide skilled nursing care and medically prescribed interventions to medically fragile and medically complex students during the school day and, when required, during transportation services. The RN will collaborate with school staff, parents, physicians, and related service providers to ensure students can safely access educational services.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Deliver direct skilled nursing services to students with disabilities and complex medical conditions
- Administer medications and physician-ordered treatments
- Provide tracheostomy care, ventilator support, respiratory treatments, oxygen administration, seizure monitoring, catheterization, and tube feeding as needed
- Develop and maintain nursing documentation and medication administration records
- Support implementation of IEPs, IHPs, and physician orders
- Monitor student health status and respond to medical emergencies
- Participate in staffing meetings and interdisciplinary collaboration
- Train designated school personnel on emergency response and health procedures
- Maintain compliance with FERPA, HIPAA, district policies, and nursing ethics standards
- Accompany students during transportation when medically required
- Provide communication updates to parents, school administrators, and healthcare providers
Required Licenses and Certifications
Mandatory:
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Georgia
- Current CPR/BLS Certification
