Job Summary:
The registered nurse (RN) specializing in medical surgical rehabilitation (MS REHAB) is required to work on an inpatient rehabilitation unit located in Reston, Virginia. This role involves providing comprehensive care to patients in a newly opened inpatient rehabilitation center, with responsibilities including medication administration, trach care, bladder scans, and various other procedures. The position offers an opportunity to collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to support patient recovery and functional independence.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: Night shifts, 12 hours per shift, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
  • Required Qualifications: Valid RN licensure, Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, 1 year of experience in Med/Surg or progressive care unit (PCU), and Rehabilitation experience preferred.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with inpatient rehabilitation patients is preferred.
  • Float: Float rotation may be required to other medical-surgical departments depending on experience.
  • Additional Information:
    • Unit specifics include an 18-bed capacity with patient ratios of 1:6 and staffing ratios of 1:12.
    • Equipment used includes Accuvein, Welch Allen Vitals Machine, Baxter IV pumps, Sequential Compression Devices (SCDs), bladder scanner, and Kangaroo pumps.
    • Documentation is maintained in Meditech.
    • Procedures performed include medication administration (oral, topical, IV (including central lines and PEG tubes)), bladder scans, trach care, tube feeding, Foley catheterization, TPN, and blood administration.
    • The unit opened in December 2018 and has specific policies and guidelines to adhere to.
    • A tour of the inpatient rehabilitation center is available via provided online resource.
    • The role involves working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to enhance patient outcomes.
