Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Inpatient Rehabilitation Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 12 Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: RN License Required Certifications: BLS Certification Required Must-Have: Must have 2 years of Medical-Surgical or Rehabilitation experience. Prefer prior rehabilitation experience. Must be comfortable working independently. Description: Position requires an inpatient rehabilitation RN to float between units. The unit has a total of 7 beds, with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:7. Common diagnoses include CVA, TIA, MI, hip fracture, Parkinson's, exacerbation of chronic conditions, debility, MVA, and TBI. RNs are not required to titrate drips. There are no Tele/Monitor Techs on this unit, and RNs do not read strips. RNs are required to attend a weekly team meeting among all disciplines in the department. There is no charge nurse on each shift; one nurse and one patient care technician will be present on each shift. There are nurse aides on this unit with a ratio of 1:7. Physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech-language pathology services are available. Equipment such as CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow devices are utilized in the unit. Shifts are from 7 PM to 7 AM for RNs and 6 PM to 6 AM for patient care technicians. Self-scheduling is not allowed; schedules are discussed with staff and are generally followed. Every other weekend, working may be required. Staff may be asked to participate in holiday rotations. Typically, patients remain on the unit; therefore, standby only occurs if there is no census. Floating is possible only if there are no patients on the rehabilitation unit. Navy blue scrubs are required for nurses, and ceiling blue scrubs for patient care technicians. There is no ward clerk or secretary on this unit; there is a part-time unit case manager present. Orientation consists of one day with an educator and one to two days with a preceptor. Cancellation policy allows the client to cancel up to two shifts per 13-week assignment. Charting system utilized is Cerner. A BSN is not a requirement for this position.
